Bret Brushes Carriacou

Memories of hurricanes Ivan and Emily Still fresh and a distant memory of Janet lingering, several residents across the sister isles heeded the call to prepare for the worst while hoping for the best during the passage of tropical storm Bret on Monday night into Tuesday morning.

Although the coordinates did not represent a direct threat to the sister isles, some residents were busy on Monday stocking up on assorted canned foods, water, batteries and the like.  Several of the business places including the financial institutions, schools and other essential services closed their doors either at midday or into the early afternoon on Monday.

Harvey-Vale Gov’t School Tops CPEA

For the second consecutive year, the Harvey-Vale Government School has delivered the sister isles top performer at the Caribbean Proficiency Exit Assessment (CPEA).

Rakeem McFarlane secured the top position for Carriacou and Petite Martinique, and an impressive 13th nationally.  Last year the school obtained the sister isles’ number one position in the person of Koby Gay who placed 29th in the nation.
