BC TEACHER ON COCAINE CHARGES

A Bishop College (BC) school teacher will appear at the St George’s Magistrate Court next month to answer two cocaine related charges.

Ackayda Stafford 30, was nabbed by members of the drug squad as she disembarked the crowded Osprey Shuttle in St George’s on Friday August 8; the evening of the Groovy and Soca Monarch competitions.

The one kilo (about 2.2lbs) of powered cocaine was discovered hidden in one tightly sealed parcel hidden in a box of disposable diapers. The parcel inside of the diapers was reportedly concealed in three tightly wrapped white, colourless and black plastic bags.

Stafford who is from the tranquil community of Belvedere was slapped with (1) possession and (2) possession of a controlled drug. The illegal substance carries an estimated street value of about $105,000.00. She is currently out on $50,000 bail with 2 sureties. Ms Stafford is expected to make her first court appearance in September.
