Carnival Queen Prepares For UI Easter Pageant

There would be no time for “honeymooning” for the newly crowned Carnival queen, as she is now busy preparing to represent the sister isles at the upcoming Union Island (UI), Beauty Pageant.

Miss Oshnen Mathurine, 18, said that she is already deep into preparation mode for the April 15 show.

She points out that the show, of regional standard, with contestants from various countries, means that she has to prepare for a greater challenge on stage.

When she won the carnival show Ms Mathurine defeated local contestants who had no prior experience in beauty pageants with the exception of Miss Grenada.

“Delegates from the other Caribbean islands will have a bit more experience than me and therefore I know I must work harder if I’m to emerge victorious”, said Ms Mathurine who is from the community of Beausejour.

However she said that the residents of the sister isles can expect her to deliver her best at the pageant. She is currently under the wing of former carnival queen, Louise Joseph, who having successfully worked with her for the Carnival beauty pageant, is extremely optimistic that Ms Mathurine would deliver similar results at next month’s Union Island Beauty Pageant.
