Over $12,000.00 Raised At Ccef Event

The Carriacou Children Education Fund (CCEF) may well have achieved its goal of raising a record amount of funds at the 2017 annual fund raising exercise, which was held on Thursday prior to the Regatta Festival.

Main organizers of the event, Mr and Mrs Herman Brink, say that they may have raised over EC$12,000.00 thus surpassing the EC$11,586.87, which was accumulated at the 2016 event.

They pointed out that while the final figure is yet to be known, as they are still collecting funds from the project, it was good and those who attended purchased most of the items at the flea market and on auction.

They pointed out that they also received US$1,200.00 from some of their Dutch customers to go towards the project.  This donation they said is sufficient to feed an entire school of needy students for a one-year period.

The Dutch couple that has been organizing the event for the last seven years following the retirement of founders of the program, American couple Mr and Mrs John and Melody Pompee in the year 2000, said that very soon the exact figure raised from this year’s exercise would be disclosed.

They are grateful to all those who donated items and gave monetary support towards assisting with the educational needs of the students of Carriacou and Petite Martinique.

They are also grateful to those who braved the inclement weather and came out to support the event.
