Attempted rape of 75 year old

Attempted rape of 75 year old

A seventy-five-year-old grandmother from the Belair/ Carrier area in St. Andrew is still recovering from shock and trauma after an attempt to rape her in the confines of her bedroom.

The suspected attacker intruded on the premises of the elderly lady while she is said to have been in the company of her blind husband but was unsuccessful in his designs and fled into the bushes.

The matter was reported to the police and an investigation was promptly launched.

Meanwhile, Calvin Fletcher from the village of Korea Hill, Conference was nabbed by police, later arrested and slapped with an indictable charge of attempted rape.

The accused appeared before the Grenville Magistrate Court for a second time last Monday and the preliminary inquiry into his trial started.

As is the norm in matters likes this, evidence was given behind closed doors in the absence of the public hearing.

However, the accused who could be in his forties was granted bail to the sum of fifteen thousand dollars with one surety.

He was banished from the Parish of St Andrew and will be taking up new residence in St. Georges once he makes bail, he is to report to the South St George Police Station once a week and is to refrain from all contact with the complainant. Should he breach the conditions he would be sent back to jail.
