Grenada takes 2nd place in 3rd OECS Track and Field Championship

Team Grenada bagged a total of nineteen medals among them, eight gold, four silver and seven bronze to capture the second spot in the 3rd OECS Track and Field Championship held at the Kirani James Athletic Stadium over the weekend.

 Over one hundred and fifty athletics from across the OECS region braved the inclement weather conditions at the stadium to showcase their talent inkeen athletic rivalry. However, when the dust settled with the final event of the day, athletes from the British Virgin Islands ran away with the title raking in twenty-one medals; 10 gold, eight silver and three bronze.

Lindon Victor to compete in the 2017 OECS Athletic Championship

The 2017 OECS Athletic Championship will be held at the Kirani James Athletic Stadium next weekend and team Grenada is expected to be at its peak with some of its best athletics on show, among them Olympian Lindon Victor who recently broke an eleven-year-old Collegiate Decathlon record in Austin Texas to earn himself the world leading score this season. 

 Our news team spoke with Victor on Saturday at the National Stadium during a brief training session with the Grenada National team and according to him, despite his disappointing performance at the Rio Olympics, this year has been a bumper one for him.
